My sweet obsession

Life Beyond Cake

I am a full-time commercial property/office manager in Southern NJ.  My background is in interior design and draperies.  I have always enjoyed working with my hands and finding ways to express my creativity.  In addition to cakes, I am an avid reader, I crochet, sew, and I am an adjunct instructor at a community college.

Along with my family, I helped to create a non-profit organization: 4Epilepsy.  We offer peer-to-peer support to families that have children with epilepsy, we provide epilepsy awareness information throughout the community, and we help to send children with epilepsy to Camp Achieve each summer.

Cake decorating is my most recent undertaking.  I’m sure if I come across something else out there that catches my eye, I’ll be trying that too!

Peggy, to be honest, I really made it up as I went along. I searched the internet for a pattern for men’s shoes and printed out a few detailed photos of saddle shoes. It really just came together. I will tell you to use either gum paste or a 50/50 mixture and build a form for the toe of the shoe to keep it from caving in before it dries. Do these a week or more in advance so that they harden. If I ever get the opportunity to do a tutorial, I will be posting it on my blog. Thank you for your kind words.
