My sweet obsession
I have been lagging behind in my blogging efforts. June was an insane month for me, and I am finally finding a minute to post my last two cakes. A few weeks ago, I was asked to make a bridal shower cake that duplicated the design on the wedding invitation. I am not too steady with my hand, but I really wanted to try painting a cake and this was the perfect opportunity. To be honest, I put more hours into this cake than I expected to. I will leave painting to the other decorators in the future. I think I am more of a 3D kind of cakester. The worst part for me (and I am sure my friend), was that the paint was supposed to be a dark shade of purple. It went on the right color, but as the paint dried, it turned black. I felt awful. Thanks Tara for being so understanding.
Earlier today, I delivered a shower cake for my friend’s niece. It was a great way to spend the day with my friend and her two sisters. We lived on the same street as kids and over the years have stayed close. Her niece, Krista, is getting married in October. I was so fortunate to be able to design the cake with only a few parameters – white, purple, bling & feathers. I really don’t know the bride, so my “princess” interpretation was a shot in the dark. Evidently I was spot on. Krista is not only a beautiful girl, she literally “sparkles”. She will truly be a princess bride.
